Amodia-We already have the fluff thread idea and it's been going on for about half a year.
As for the FAQ, this is being worked on slowly.
"Please don't use illegal software. I'd prefer to keep JK and PsiWorld out of jail."
awwww...lol ok I'll be a good admin
As for the boards, I agree the organization of them is a mess, obviously a bit after thought of when Matt created them. I'm going to keep the boards we have, but probably use more subboards if you all don't mind.

what do you happen to mean when you say "more" subboards. how would that help? i think some boards are a total waste because almost nobody posts there and we should group them all together, but thats just me. How do you plan on testing the new forums? i would suggest testing it like game designers do, that is a beta test. while having willing members test the beta you could have them move the threads over( a rather good idea if i say so myself).

Yes move it, you could keep this forum open until a suitabl amount of members have joined the other forum. Then leave this one with the link to the new site. I think it's a great ideas.

The experiment board will subbed under Psionics General We'll keep the Artistic subboard The non psionic board will have to go as will my Jedi articles (sigh) The Self Defense board I'm thinking of making a whole caterogy for it with maybe another board or two added, but still have it password protected.

No. I wouldn't like to see the forum move. Unless we could find something exactly like this, I don't want to move. I mean there's just a bit of security issues, but not much. Also we can get rid of the troublemakers if we wanted to, by banning them. I just don't want to have the forum move.

Actually that's the problem. I can't just ban people who haven't quite broken the rules. Troublemakers also include highly annoying newbies and semi rude people who are always one inch away from being banned. Banning isn't the answer to everyone too as the mod and I have found out.

Well, I know you don't need to ban everyone. But newbies always have questions, we can't just solve that by switching forums. That's not nice. Just tell them to read articles, and if not, give them a warning, 3 warnings and a 1 week ban, 3 more 3 week ban, and 3 more and a perm ban. There's another easy fix. And rude people, we can deal with by giving them warnings like above.

If your all so worried about post count, she can record that and set everyones as so. As with karma and such. She could make herself have 2000 karma and a 10000 post count if she wanted.

I like this idea. i was going to create a huge long list about everything, then I read Apollo's post and it appears he has done it all for me . I think this is a great idea, let's face it, proboards isn't all that user friendly. Sure it's frre but so are many others eg: Forum5. the moving will be a temporary fix as Apollo said however it may open up doors to make the fix a bit more permanent. For example because there are that many inactive members at the moment you will have problems cleaning them all up, however a lot of forum software has the ability to automatically delete unused accounts, and much more, especially compared to proboards which has well... none of that stuff. It would also open up the door for a much better forum layout (I'm a web designer *wink wink nudge nudge*) and everyone knows that aesthetics are the important part . Personally the post count doesn't bother me (gives me a chance to catch up ) I don't see why it should either, if all the members go across we will know who has the most knowledge/respect/karma. Which looking at a lot of people isn't reflected in their post count/karma points anyway. After all JK has by far the highest karma/post count of us all, and she is proposing the move. . So I'm all for it, I really don't like ProBoards.

I love psiworld but if this is what it takes to make it better than I say go for it, as long as JK has the time to do it because I know it will be very time consuming to make this happen.

Honestly, I'm in favor of moving the forum. Foremost is the idea of a clean slate-- those of you who have large post counts here will remain unaffected in any genuine way. You'll still be the same person, and still have the ability to make a large impression-- if not larger, since what you do will genuinely affect the very beginnings of the new board.
We might loose some members-- but why? How is this so much different? It takes a mere couple seconds to be able to create an account nearly anywhere, and at worst, maybe 2-3 minutes. Most people who are serious about anything are willing to spend 2 minutes of their 80-90 year lifespan to work a little bit.
I understand some of you have worked hard here. I know I'll loose a lot of large posts that I've done, because I usually put them somewhere random rather than a large or important thread, but that doesn't bother me. I'll be the same person, and the same opportunities will arise to show who I am.
Now, to play Devil's advocate, what do we gain by staying? Well, we have a board which already exists, certainly. We have established threads, members, and a 1,000+ count.
That doesn't mean we can't port over to a new board. With the potential changes we can make, we can really make something our own. Proboards is beautiful, I love them most of the time, but there comes a point when we need to step up and work for ourselves. We can move the articles, many of which are going to be edited over to fix spelling and grammar errors, or just to improve and update information.
In short, it's not all bad. The only real issue here is how other people are going to react; namely, you guys... Why refuse to move in such a manner? It's no great loss, in fact, it offers a whole new boatload of opportunities as you really begin to stand out on a fresh new board. Keep your usernames if you'd like, so we remember who you are, but this is a brand new chance for some of you to really step up and help us shoulder something big.
Take that chance, and work with us. Do your best, and show what you're willing to achieve.

Guys, I've lost all my post count enough times that it doesn't bother me. I've joined and made myself big on so many sites, I'm comfortable with starting from scratch. It shouldn't be a big deal and if it is, then consider this a learning experience.
