It's not that I "hate" slang, it's just slang such as "thanks" "you" "2" "are" and what not makes you look lazy. It also doesn't make you sound very smart, or make the site sound smart if everyone uses slang like that. It's not just a USA thing, but the USA does use it more than other countries. A lot of 13 year old new to psionics people use a lot of slang, making their reputation even worse (which is already known to be annoying, very lazy, won't read the articles, annoying and highly immature). By insisting that you type out everything, I'm helping you all improve your reputation. By improving your reputation you will find more advance psions would be willing to help you, but it is you who has to do the work.

Good point JediKaren. I at least never teach anyone who uses slang, as it shows that you do not care about what you have to say. The same goes for refusing to spell correctly most of the time, and failing to use proper grammar.
By simply speaking correctly, you can gain a great deal more respect than you would otherwise. Once you are respected, those stronger than you often do not mind helping you out with things here and there.
