OK,
I know that there has been a lot of confusion about shield function and usage...ESPECIALLY among beginners. So this is a categorizing system that i hope will make it easier to discuss shields
NOTE:if you have anything to add, please post!
[you]Shields are divided into 3 basic and 3 complex categories (Classes)[/you]
[glow=red,2,300]
BASIC CLASSES[/glow]
[you]Class I-Isolation[/you]
These prevent most (if not all) emotion/signals from entering the conjurer; requires loads of energy and is normally used for grounding in emergencies. Not difficult to learn
[you]Class II-Insulation[/you]
These shields prevent most (if not all) emotions/signals from exiting the conjurer. Again, it requires loads of energy, and should only be used as a precaution if your abilities are out of control and might hurt someone. Moderately difficult to learn
[you]Class III- Permeable[/you]
These shields allow MOST information to exit/enter the conjurer, but it filters out certain extreme emotions/signals. Takes little energy and can be used very often without much burnout. Requires programming. Difficult to learn
[glow=red,2,300]
COMPLEX CLASSES
[/glow]
[you]Complex Class A-Reflective[/you]
These shields send most (if not all) information taken in by the conjurer out into nearby space but does not disable information from being received. This is very difficult to do and requires massive amounts of energy. Requires very proficient programming. Extremely difficult. (NOTE: doing this around other Class A shields an cause feedback) (I can't do this, but i can do a "proto-Reflective" in which some emotions are transmitted based on area)
COMBOS: great when used with all other shields.
[you]Complex Class B-Detraction[/you]
These complex shields reduce the STRENGTH of the signals entering the conjurer. Not to be confused with a weak Class I shield, this retains the information, but allows the "noise" to be softened, allowing the conjurer to focus on the emotions of his/herself. Allows a safer opportunity to discover oneself without being completely isolated. Easy difficulty.
COMBOS: Good for keeping friendly empaths from being overloaded with a Class A
[you]Complex Class C-Enhancement[/you]
These complex shields increase the STRENGTH of the signals entering the conjurer. Makes it easier to receive weaker signals. Moderate difficulty.
COMBOS: Good for driving nearby hostile empaths crazy with a Class A
Anything to add? please post!
