I think you all would and should know the duties and chores when it comes to running this site. I don't mean for this to come out whining, but when you all whine about the quality of my job, it feels like you don't know how much there is do to and how much I get done.

[you]Pms[/you]
I get anway where from 1-20 pms a day, depending if that person is pming me back as fast as they can read them. I get all sorts of pms and I'm not always great about answering them, but I do try.
I get pms about a post needing to be moved, or read and get a reply about. Sometimes someone wants me to read and ask if that's against the rules. Or why a post was locked.
I get pms about a profile question like how to add a picture, or change a title, or to add a signature.
I get pms about questions about skills. Some of them are simple or have been answered else where. Some of them are long, complex, or I've never heard before. They tend not to get answered.
I get pms about a complaint about another member, the yell box, or the chatroom. Those are long and hard to deal with. They involve several pms, going into the chatroom and dealing with a problem, banning or taking off karma points or posting some post.
I get pms for passwords for the directory and self defense, both require looking at profiles, thinking and then posting.
[you]Emails[/you]
I'm lucky I don't get too many emails, but I do get some, generally 1-5 a day usually about psi directory info or some complaint about an article. Sometimes there is a complaint about getting banned or a question about how to do a skill. If I get a question about how to do a skill, I tend not to answer it. I mean to, but it just never happens.
[you]Accepting members[/you]
I have the settings on the boards to make it so I have to accept all members before they can post. This was mostly do to give me an idea of how many people are joining per a day. I can also keep out people that were banned or people that look like spammers should we ever get hacked like UPC is right now.
[you]Ims[/you]
I get imed by at least 5-20 people a day, all wanting my attention that instant. I've been known to talk to 5 people at once, listen to music, reading a post and writing a post. Yeah, I'm crazy. But usually if I have three people talking to me at once and one person just wants to chat, I'll tell them I'm busy. I also get tons of requests to personally teach someone a skill or psionics in general. I get tons of questions, most just need a link to be posted, but some of them can get really time comsuming.
[you]Posts[/you]
I have a little routine I've set up when I get on the forum. I first check for pms, then members and then I get to the boards. I scan the boards looking for anything that looks important or interesting. There is also a run to the intro board to look for new threads that need my personal intro. Then if nothing looks vital, I go to threads I started or made a good post. Generally while doing that I look at the boards for other posts that have been misplaced. I also look for fighting threads. The main areas are the general, general psionics, links, debate board, other, spiritual, empathy and such, and finally if I'm that board, psi balls, tk, shielding and such.
[you]Modding[/you]
Moving threads, posting reminders, taking off karma points, editing threads, pming people about my own complaints, and modding the moderators all has to be done.
[you]Chatroom[/you]
You all wonder why I won't spend much time there. Mostly it's because its a pain in the butt to deal with. I have to make sure the rules are being followed, ask people to obey them, kick or ban people, explain why I banned them, argue over rules more, give links out to questions, deal with fights, and try desperately to find mods or mod mods.
[you]Articles[/you]
I get about two articles a month to read through, sometimes more. That takes a good 20 minutes to do and I rarely get them edited again by the person. Then there are my own articles which I must do as part of keeping the site updated. That means several hours of research, planning, writing, more writing, editing, getting the opinions of others, more editing, and if the article can survive all that, post it which involves posting it, linking it, summarizing it, advertising it on the main site and here.
[you]YellBox[/you]
ban spammers, delete comments that don't need to be there, delete comments about spammers, sometimes answer questions.
[you]Birthdays and pm welcomes[/you]
When I have time and can remember to, I try to send a pm to people with birthdays that day. I also try to sent out a pm to just accepted members with a welcome message.
[you]Updates[/you]
The main site needs updating for the news. A new poll has to be thought up and added and advertised on the main site and forum. Articles, if any, have to be added, linked, summarized, and advertised. The news section has be edited for new articles and what not. The psi direction has to be edited for new entries. the News fader needs to be changed every so often.
[you]Bans and Karma points[/you]
Banning and unbanning is always a pain in the butt. They take up tons of time and energy and lots of ims, pms, and emails are involved. Karma points, if I'm taking more than one an hour, requiring more work. Then there are complaints about people taking too many karma points off and I have to go into the log and look to see who was taking off points and is there a reason for that.
[you]Counter[/you]
Ritecounter.com is our counter and it allows me to see how many hits we get a day for both the forum and main site. I tend to check where are people coming from, looking to see what sites do we get the most hits and new sites advertising us.
[you]Newsletter[/you]
Once a month I have to crank out a newsletter that takes about an hour to type. You all seem to like it and it's a way to encourage old and new members to post.
Well, that's all I can think that I do for now. I hope you can forgive me when I don't always get around to helping a person or do the best job in the world. There is so much to do and only so little of me. You can tell me mods are the answer, but they aren't. I know my mods have tons of people all asking for their help and they try to do all they can. All of this has to be done each day and if not, even more work comes.
