I don't know about your schools but mine has like a million sports teams...I do football and track! lol
Where is it that they are taking away recess? My little brother said that the just added an extra half hour of recess...so that makes like an hour of recess! It sounds like our school is trying to alleviate the obesity problem.

It's not that hard to but the marshmallows back on the shelf and buy a football instead. People say it's too expensive, well yes it is too expensive to buy a football and a bunch of junk food, just but the junk back.

I personally think it's the child's fault. Because, Like me, *sniff* i choose to sit here, type, and do nothing. But, that is me. I think that it should be required, every child must play at LEAST 1 hour each day, as I said earlier. Add one hour to the school day, let it be only playtime.

the problem with that is teachers and admin, mostly admin care too much about test scores than if the kids are fat.

Yeah I noticed that as well. When I first started hearing about that I wondered.... wtf? I lived on the though recess as a child (not only that, but food, sleep and all other necessities). Children live on the thought of recess as well and its something that keeps children as children. Removing recess in my view was a bad decision. Now, people are opting to bring it back.
I also personally believe that if alot of people are so against it, they shouldn't focus on trying to bring recess back. Instead they should focus on getting the young ones to engage in physical activities outside of school. Take time out of your schedule (if you're a parent/adult with children, even if they aren't yours) to go outside and exercise. I know its easier said than done, but people should know that the schools aren't the only things to blame because of the obesity problem.

i had mandatory PE class for .. ehm.. 9 years. Those were the best classes. You may not be doing the sport you would like to do, but it beats the heck out off sitting still.
I wish i had PE class for more 3 years in highschool. but eh. I did basketball at recess.
And may i say, i was rather good at it. Except in the whole getting the ball through the hoop thing. That i sucked at. But i was your guy to take the ball to the other side!
hihihi

umm quick what is the definition of school? something along the lines of "a place for learning"
plain and simple to me... learning.... now PE if your gonna use it is fine... but i have too many required classes to get through in order to have PE... not to mention studying in elem school but...
Cu said 1 hour of school added on for PE... why not just play a sport i mean thats like a whole hour of exercise right there...
but also Cu come on we love it that you "choose to sit here, type, and do nothing" ...well sometimes... i mean my doc says my main problem health wise is social skills ... but im getting off topic
also "Add one hour to the school day, let it be only playtime. " what about us who are in shape (im kinda in that group depending on how you look at it...room for improvement)"
also another BIG problem with that ok people who play sport would then be doing physical activity for 2+ hours straight after a normal pratcice now lets say you get off at 3 one a regualar day +2 and you get 5 correct? now homework could take anywhere from 2-3hours (for someone who is totally dead tired) this means you would get done with your homework between 7-8 now since some people go to bed at 9 thats like a 1 hour margin of time in whoch they have to get showers etc. this would really cut in to a normal athletes time and probably cause his/her ability in sports and school to slip from exahstion...ok need a solution to this

I agree that we shouldn't add an hour to school. I mean here is my schedual:
*Football Season* 6:45-8:00 am Football practise 8:45-4:00 School 4:00-7:00 Hang out with friends etc 7:00-8:00 Dinner 8:00-11:00 Homework
*Then during Track season* 8:45-4:00 School 4:00-5:00 Track Practise 5:00-7:00 Hang out with friends etc 7:00-8:00 Dinner 8:00-11:00 Homework
I don't have any room for a PE class! If I wasn't an athlete then I could probably take the class...but I don't really like PE.

4am - wake up 4am-5am - get ready for school 5am-7am - Study various things for computer networking/repair 7am-11am - Stupid school, sleep mostly 11am-2pm - Technological School, study various things for computer networking/repair 2pm-4pm (tuesdays and thursdays) - make up classes 2pm-4pm (other days) - hour long walk + hour of music and meditation to become calm 4pm-11pm - Study various things for computer networking/repair, practice driving, do any major work that needs doing, sort out various mental problems of friends, keep various friends from harming themselves and/or others, fix friends computers, sometimes visit psiworld. 11pm-1am - meditate/listen to music to calm down 1am-4am - sleep
If I shorted myself on something else, I could do a bit more exercise. The walk is only another tool of calming my noisy mind and bringing peace to the chaos called life.

Well I might not be the best in shape person in the world, but i'm not in danger either, but I love my PE class. I have it first thing in the morning this year, but it's only for one semester. So half way through the year, I won't have gym any more, and im going to go nuts. Most people think it's weird cause i'm not in the best of shape, and I love gym class lol. I put a crap load of effort into it and I love it. lol. But I don't know what i'm going to do when I don't have gym second semester...I'm going to go nuts. I'm going to walk home from school (like i do every day), and have to run laps around the house 50 times just to feel like I did something lol.
