i didnt really notice the cons here. in fact this is my favorite forum, but i will follow if it moves. no biggie. however i do have some Q's. what will become of this site? will it become the new psipog and everything be archived or still be active? couldnt you just delete one timers and fluff threads? ban troublemakers? is the new one gonna be like this one? are you gonna transfer members or do have to join again?

You haven't read the thread. I said I would lock all the threads.

Can't you just delete one-timers and fluff threads? There are hundreds of one-timers/0 posters. Just because they have 1-0 posts doesn't make them inactive, in fact there are in active members with post counts in the 100s. That would mean going through every singe profile and checking for activity. That's a lot of work.
You'll have to join again (already been answered...lol)
I notice you guys talking about the "site" I assume you mean the forums. We are only talking about moving the forums in this topic, not the site.
The new one being like this one? You mean a Proboards site? NO! It will mean some large changes, because it will be quite hard to come up with a template that matches the site without any major editing.
This forum will most likely just sit here. We'll probably just disable posting and member joining... Any topics you like, can be very easily moved. Just get the URL, and post it at the top, then carry on conversation.

If we did move I would lock all the threads and of course keep the site up, but direct all comers to the new site. This sounds like a good thing to do. It may take a little while for all to make it over but eventually they'll make it. Also we'll probably pick up new users in the process anyway =)

1. Good point. 2 - 3. There ya go. 4. Woah woah woah... what?? Majority of forums out there have off topic threads no matter what. 5 6. NO matter what, there is always gonna be an offtopic post in a thread. There is no stopping it, so what's saying moving the forum is going to fix that? 7. Sounds good and all, but the more admin features just makes it seem more that you are worried about your power rather than caring for the users. THat's just my opinion. But, it does make sense for having more control over the forum, but still.
1. Look back at 2 and 3 pro. 2. Good. 3. Majority of those threads (like the artist section) would be worth the move. But, why not try and move the user database and see if you are able to remove all of the one time posters in that database. Trust me, it is possible. 4. All forums have always started out that way. 5. That's due to the fact some old members stopped posting, and when they end up coming back because of internet or life problems, they'll realize this forum is closed.

JK, I must say, I'm actually intrigued by the idea of a move. I think that by keeping the old one around, and redirecting those who come to it to the new location, you would erase the problem of them never seeing the new forum because of lack of popularity, because it would be drawing from the popularity of the old one to transfer them to new one. Sorry if that was erratic.
Also, the loss of fluff, as well as those members who don't bother to come back, post, or anything like that, would be greatly beneficial to the advancement of the ideas, philosophies and practices of those who truly wish to improve and learn more about this wonderful world we Psions live in and explore.
The loss of certain things such as the old discussions will be regrettable, but perhaps not a bad thing. Sometimes, letting go of these past occurrences and starting from scratch is by far the best option. Of course the MOST popular and informative should be moved, but for the most part, leaving the old discussions behind will leave room for growth.
In short, I'm for the move. What needs to be done should be done, and then let's be bloody well done with it.

I have no objections to a move, but nor do i understand the need for it. Where you learn does not change what you learn.

I could care less about post count/karma. I just like the place we are now. I don't really see any reason to move.

Personally, I'm all for a move, if only to never see the useless threads and posts again. The new look of it would be a nice bonus, and I personally never looked at my post count or anything. Then again, I was gone for such a long time I don't think I have anything to say in this matter, but anyway.

That's a good point. A lot of people can't take change, but in the end it's better. I know I hate change, but I can get past that to see that this will be better all around for the site.
