Self Defense board

many of you have been begging and bothering me for months for a combat board. So far I have hold off, but I'm willing, this one time, to hear you all out.

So, what would go here? First I still will not allow anything that would be "psi blasting, psi attacking, psi killing". We have 13 year olds ( a lot of them who lie about their age) and I don't want them trying to blast people apart. This isn't DBZ as much as you all desperately wish. We could talk about how to defend against such attacks, what are the signs of someone attacking you and stuff like that. Basically it would be a psi self defense board. Does that sound reasonible?

Here's where you get a say: should this board be open to everyone? Why or why not? What rules will apply to this board? If people start talking about "psi blasting"? What should happen to them?

Please answer these questions and add on anything else. If we can come to an agreement, I'll try this board out for a few months.

This seems like a case where 'the spirit of the law' is more important than the 'letter' of the law. Perhaps warnings given and posts deleted should someone post an outrightly combative idea, such as psi blasting. A kinda, three strikes and you're out thing. Since there's not much way to outrightly determine what is and is not violent, it may be up to the staff or concerned members to 'advise' against the person. For example, a member may advise on the removal of a thread someone started before it catches a staffies eye, which would have resulted in at least one warning.

I agree with the three strikes, and you're out rule. I think it should be open to everybody at first, but if it gets out of control, we should set up an application process where only users who seem to have good experience in psi (and of course mods) are granted access. I've seen this strategy used before and it's quite effective, people won't believe we are serious, but after we tell them "Hey, you blew it." They feel somewhat immature.

Good idea, I know that many people would try to harm me if they knew how, and would like to prevent such things. I do see the need to keep things below certain levels as many people seem to want to damage people/things without understanding how it can effect them. I think that having a rule on it and having it well enforced would be a good way to keep things under control, but saying is easier than doing.

Ok I can make the board password protected and you would have to pm me or a moderator to get the password.

I also think it should be, one strike you're out for 2 weeks and must ask through a pm to be allowed again.

Sounds interesting, If its really only for self-defense i could probably post some nice shield techs

This might be really help-ful to me because I need to learn some Self-Deffence in Psi.

Discussing about Attacking on this board would be very dangerous knowing how some people learn Psi just so they can blast eachother. So this Strike thing seems effective.

The Password will keep out the people who will try to discuss Attacking so this Board seems it can work very well.

Same here I need to learn self defense cause these three kids keep attacking me durring school and on the bus well not much on the bus

I think you really need two boards, one purely self defense, that anyone can access, but no psi combat. And one that is password protected that is more advanced and includes psionic sparring.

Please note the difference between sparring in combat. In sparring you only attempt to reduce your opponents sheild to about 25% strength. In combat you keep going untill someone gives up, or is unable to manipulate due to some more advanced techniques. You are also not limited to manipulation. You are allowed to do anything psionic you want. Even things such as forced halucination.

Sparring is pretty safe, but should still password protected because some of the techniques for sparring can be used in combat.

I hope for the best and that everything turns out well if you decide to make such boards.

Well, that is a good idea. The password protecting thing is good. I think I would like this board because I do need to learn some shields. So, I say it's a great addition.
