I suppose that's possible but, I think it's our astral body leaving the body and taking our conscious with it. Also, I don't believe astral projection is our spirit leaving our body. I think when your spirit leaves your body, you're dead.

Interesting theory about the astral plane. I like that. It seems very possible.

I also believe shared dreams, lucid or not, are real.
