As you can see I have a new poll in the main site about ethics. Some of you are probably wondering what am I talking about. What are ethics? Why should psionics care about them? Why do care if we have them written down or not?
Ethics is the guideline, the playbook, the rules you practice something. Should you learn and practice psi blasting? Well if you do you have the power to hurt or scare people. Do you want that? Yes you'll have a lot of power, but will you have many friends? As for why would I care if these rules, or even suggestions are written down, I care because I want them to become standard and enforced into the new coming psionics. That way we could keep down attacks on people and bring a more peaceful, helping enviroment for them.
So now I ask you, what is your opinion on all of this? Should we have some sort of written ethic code that is standard? Yes or no, why and what would you want included?

I think it would be a good idea for an ethic code. Some people who come to this site may want to learn psi for harmful reasons. An enthic code may scare those people away. I personally wouldn't want someone without their own personal ethic code using psi. An ethic code may be helpful also to show any of those religous types that we are not necessarily bad people. I know some will still think of us as bad, but it may have a few not think so badly of psi people.
As for what is included, just most of the stuff you tell us all the time. Never use psi on a person without their permission. I personally never attack a person with psi unless if the person knew psi and they attacked me first, but that is my personal thing. Those are just two big codes of mine. Anyway, that is just my opinion.

I agree that an ethic code should be present, but the hard part is: how are you goint to make people follow it?

i also think that there should be a code of ethics. it would set the tone for how people in general view Psionics as a whole. I hate to go all "hollywood" in here but, "with great power, comes great responsibility"...truer words have never been spoken.

Ok here's some things I find newbies and exprienced psionics do that I wish they didn't. Please please please add anything that I might of left out! [you] When to use:[/you] Do not use your abilities to purposely harm people Empathy: Do not broadcast your emotions out. Do not send negative emotions Telepathy: Do not go into people's minds Mind control is considered a form of attack A type of mind control: telepathic suggestions don't scan people many sites don't like scanning be careful about telling the future to others [you] Be truthful[/you] if you're going to ask for help, tell what's going on, don't make stuff up don't lie about what you can do if you want help from other psions Don’t brag spreading false information aka fake kinesis
[you]Teaching and Learning[/you] don't mislead newbies don't try to corner the more experienced into showing what we can do don’t worship others no favors like making us “test” your shield do not always believe us do not beg us to train you
[you]Other[/you] I highly advise showing off abilities gives off a bad name to real psionics "pet psychic" "psychic hotlines" Egos Do not treat non psionis with disrepect please research and read, do not expect us to tell you everything

What if a psion is attacking us or another person and we want to help that attacked or save ourselves? Can we counter attack that attacker? Im not really for attacking just protecting.

yes and I will include that. I was more thinking of what we don't want newbies or anyone doing that people do.

might i make a suggestion..
you might include "if your under attack, try not to harm someone badly just do enough to suppress the threat."
i feel that most people get carried away when there under attack.. and probly use more energy then what they intended to use. so a reminder to thoughs out there is just a sugggestion i thought i would share.

I don't like the idea of anyone attacking anyone. There's no reason to do it.

There isnt any reason for people to attack other people like Karen said but theres always those who are going to abuse their power.
