I think it's just that. I don't believe it to have any "power". Does anything have?

found it and this is straight from a site on the greek alphabet
Ø ø Psi Transliterated "PS" Ancient Pronunciation: "ps" as in "upset" For some reasons the Greeks thought they needed a separate letter for the "ps" sound. We don't pronounce the "p" when it starts a word ("psychiatrist", "psalms"), but the Greeks did.
no specail meaning but i'll see if it later became something else that somehow realates to the word Psi that we use

ok foudn some more here is what i found from psichi.org
Psi Chi Key and Seal
Psi Chi was founded on September 4, 1929, during the Ninth International Congress of Psychology held at Yale University. Shortly after Psi Chi's founding, a key was designed for the society, and also a Psi Chi seal that features the key as its central element.
Most honor societies use a key as their main symbol; the majority of these are based on the Greek letters that form the names of the respective societies, and some include various other graphic elements intended to convey additional meaning. Psi Chi's key is based on the Greek letters "psi" and "chi" with the "psi" graphically extended as a key and superimposed over the "chi." There are no additional graphic elements used as symbols, but the letters "psi" and "chi" have been used for decades in the Psi Chi induction ritual to express the Greek words "psyche" and "cheires," which in turn symbolize "mind" (particularly scholarship and the enrichment of the mind) and "hands" (a symbol of fellowship and cooperation in research). These concepts are developed more fully in the Formal Ritual for the Induction of Members.
The Psi Chi seal places the key at the center of a circle, indicating that scholarship and fellowship are at the center of Psi Chi's mission. In addition to the official name of the society and its founding date, the seal also includes a circle formed from a series of smaller circles, which represent the diversity and the cumulative number of lifetime members which together make up the society as a whole. The outside of the circle is a rope border, symbolizing the fellowship and common goals and mission that bind us together as one unified group.

Psi is also the 23rd Greek letter Ψ, and psi comes from the Greek psyche which is translated as mind or soul. Psi is divided in two types. They are Psi-kappa and psi-gamma. Psi-kappa is in charge of the active part of psi, psychokinesis. Psi-gamma is in charge of the passive part of psi, extra-sensory perception.
I know this because I researched it for my article on precognition.
