First of all, Waves, "pyrokinesis" is a fluff term. You probably already knew that, but I thought I should remind you for the good of the community... Also, to attempt to answer your question, I don't know much about fire but I know that I can often (subconsciously) manipulate air in that same kind of way. I'm not really sure how I do this, but many times when I am forming a psiball or somehow working with psi, I can feel the air starting to move noticeably. I never would have thought anything of it until I realized that it happened most times when I used psi. Sorry, Waves, but I'm just as confused as you on this one...

Pyrokinesis is not fluff. Fire is the release of sun energy from wood, ect. If we can use sun energy to make constructs, then we can manipulate the energy coming from the wood, ect. It is only energy releasing itself as light and heat. I'm guessing waves, that your field was trying to manipulate that energy by itself. Or the flame is attracted to you. It might also be wind, but I'm gonna trust you on this.

It all comes down to manipulating matter with energy.
A fluff term.
