This is the form of meditation that has always worked best for me. It is called Death Trance or the Dead Man's Trance. It is from India.
For the best flow of your energy, it is suggested you wear very thin soft loose fitted clothing. Cotton is a bit too insulated. If you aren't a prude, like me, you can just take all your clothes off and get down with your naked self. Go ahead, do a little dance. Thats it! You got game now dawg.
Err, anyway... to begin you will want to be laying down on a firm yet soft surface, like your bed. Take some time to pull at your clothes, if any, to make sure the cloth isnt bundled up against you. Make sure you will not itch for the next 10 minutes, and do not fidget at all. The success of this form is determined by your ability to remain completely and entirely motionless for the duration of the meditation. You cannot itch, move, wiggle, go to the bathroom--No movement at all.
When you are ready, you want your legs straight, and your arms at your side. Close your eyes. Focus on your toes. Can you see them in your mind's eye? DONT MOVE! Thats it, well done so far. Keep focus on your toes. We are going to force a state of gnosis by telling ourselves, "My toes are relaxed, and light as a feather. My toes are getting lighter, and lighter. They are completely relaxed."
When you start to feel them tingle, you can move to your ankle. Then your calf. Then up to your knee. Then your thigh. Then your thingy/girl thingy, followed by your stomach, your chest, your NIPPLES (dont be prudish), your neck, your shoulders, your arms, your fingers, your fingertips/nails, your mouth, your nose, your eyes, the back of your head, each side of your head, the top of your head.
By the time you have gone through every part of your body, you will have attained gnosis. Gnosis is defined as an enlightenment or understanding that comes through meditation. You will feel a tingle all across your body and it will always feel like if you were to be pushed up to the ceiling, just given a light nudge, you will fly straight into the sky, and bounce across the clouds.
That is the form of meditation I practice. If you cant get it dont feel discouraged. Everyone has their own form that works best for them.
