Unconscious is when you aren't conscious, or awake and thinking-- so connecting to that is impossble, since in that sense its a state and not a seperate 'thing.'
Your subconscious... Is sometimes believed to be the origin of psi, and the effects of psi are your SC 'reaching' out, or at least some forms of psi. Anyways, my suggestion is meditation and careful focus. Try to hit that stage before sleep, where you're still conscious but only barely.

What Intrigue said is what you should do. Meditation and Focus. Before you go to sleep and your barley conscious it would be easier to connect to your subconsious.

Hope I'm not steering you wrong but maybe you want to look into kundalini arising meditation. You can find that on some yoga site I guess. Basically kundalini is some sort of energy (I'm not going to even consider attempting to figure out how it relates to psi ) that you try and get to ascend up your spine (well your energy body equivalent) going through each of the seven major chakra, until it reaches the seventh one and then your conscious and subconscious get to meet. The only snag is it takes years (more than that according to some,...). I'm sorry for using a couple of barbarian terms in there but they're the only ones I know to describe this oO. Also, I don't know whether I'm supposed to give external links and stuff, I will, if I'm not supposed to, please edit me. If you have a look on astral dynamic's [you]Treatise on Astral Projection[/you] by Robert Bruce, you'll see he cites a couple of ways to "trick your subconscious into doing stuff" (not his exact words but you get the idea . And all this chatter to say two things: *You get in contact with your subconscious very often, well every night in fact and I'm not sure direct contact is a good idea nor is it easy. You might want to learn how to do (couldn't find a better word oO) lucid dreams because that's where you're most likely to meet your subconscious. *If you are really curious about this, you might also want to consider hypnosis with a friend (him hypnotizing you and not the other way obviously . Or maybe reading some Freud (well good luck/courage if you choose that path ;D).

Well yeah and the goal of yoga (sorry about bringing religion into here, it's just used as a technique though, not as a set of thought) or at least kundalini yoga is to unlock all the seven major chackras (and all the other ones so energy flow in the body is good) and get the kundalini -a.k.a. the serpent of fire- to reach the last chakra and to unite the conscious and subconscious. But that is a process that according to many takes several lives . So maybe try to learn how to wake up in your dream, that is to have lucid dreams. Your subconscious uses dreams to communicate with the conscious mind and try and resolve issues. If you manage to lucid dream, then you might have a shot at "getting in contact" with your subconscious. This has not been tried out so I can't tell you the results and there is surely a high risk your conscious would take over totally from your subconscious (wish there were synonyms for those two, kinda tired of repeating them). But with time you might be able to find a way around that. Another warning, if you do come in contact with your subconscious in a dream, it's probably going to be quite cryptic... Sorry if I'm saying the same thing over again. --=[]- EDIT -[]=-- Just had a way better idea: write every dream you can remember down, and try and decipher it. Though it will not provide with the experience of lucid dreaming (and the fun of it;) ) it will be quicker and easier... Except you'll still have to decipher the cryptic stuff I guess.. Any way good luck !

Well kundalini doesn't open the chakras per se (per sae?), the chakras being open enable the kundalini to ascend though trying to leak kundalini into a chakra will help it open... But from my point of view, doing those yoga exercises can't hurt (meditations, controlling the breath, all the stuff that raises your general energy levels... I'm not keen on the bending and twisting though, not flexible enough ). About the dreams, well yeah writing them down will help you remember them but it's especially useful to try and extract any kind of meaning from your dreams... You know, what your subconscious is telling you.. Any ways, forgot to ask why you wanted to get in touch with your subconscious? Only reply if that's not private or anything .

What happens when you finally connect the two , do feel different, do you learn quicker, are you sense increase or is it just a start to achieve those things. I mean do your mind rationalize better or what.

Maybe this helps.
Concious, subconcious and unconciousness. Concious mind is YOU. It is defined by your character, and your thinking. Subconciousness is higher level of conciousnes and it is more aware of your mistakes and almost always knows the right thing. It is ''better you'' or you could say perfected you(smarter, wiser etc.) Also the flow of the energy of one's body/es (phisycal, spiritual...) is controlled by it to make natural blockades if you are in danger or you want to hurt someone. When using psi you get more in contact with you subconcious; to be more specific with the part which you use to controll ability/es. Unconcious mind is perfection of mankind, every human is connected through it, and all unconcious minds are in fact one. As it is hard for conciouus mind to comunicate with subconcious it is even harder for subconcious mind to make connection with unconcious mind. Subconcious is connection between concious and unconcious mind. You could consider subconcious as a chip that can connect you with the abilities or informations you want. As you practice that connection is stronger, and if you don't use it connections ge old and distorted so you can't use them as you could when you practiced more.
-Did this helped? I hope it did, but if it was bed explanation i will try to explain my point of view in another way.

I herd you can program your subconcious to do some thing like to re-light a candle to do pyrokinesis

I read in the theories of Carl Jung. That you sometimes can connect to the unconcious and subconcious by hipnosis and therapy, they start digging and digging into your concious to reveal hidden stuff. And I believe that when you are Lucid Dreaming you are aware in your dreams and since the dreams are our only real connection to the subconcious I believe that you can connect with it by lucid dreaming.
