you mean an avatar that looks like you or an avatar of your own (not provided by the site)
for the second one, you just find to pic (on the net, like mines) copy the code and paste it in the avatar space in your profile.
for the pic of your self, you need to have it on your computer, then go to imageshack.com to get the code. then you do something like: [ i m g ] codehere [ / i m g ].
