If you are new to Psionics it is not uncommon to be unable to do something on your first try, keep practicing you'll get it.

Here's what I suggest for you: 1) Don't start off with something as complicated as a psipet. If you have successfully created psi balls, why don't you program them to do interesting things, like zoom around the room, or chase your pets around. The you can make them into different shapes. After that you might want to progress on to something more advanced, like a psi pet. 2) SHELL! Shelling is an invaluable skill for any psion. What you do is, make a thick layer of condensed psi on the outside of your construct after you program. This keeps all of the psi in, and it help the construct keep it's shape. 3) When you program some people find it advantageous to ( big word!) to repeat the programming until they get a sense of 'understanding' from the construct.

im afraid i have to disagree on the case of shelling. if you view it as smoke that can leave without being trapped then that's up to you, but simply impress upon it the concept of play doh then your good. play doh is still pliable but holds the shape you give it.

I agree that shelling isn't necessary, however it's a helpful visualization for newcomers.
