This is named so for several specific reasons and is based upon those principles:
This is not a spiritualistic technique, despite the title.
A) 'Holy ground' (in other words, an area where the power of faith and belief protect the space within a certain area)
B) 'Sanctifying' a given area, through belief (... or psi) but not JUST the borders, everything inside as well.
The idea behind the Consecration circle is to develop an area-wide field of your energy, not the normal thin-shelled bubbles you see more often than not. Essentially, you're going to create a mist of energy over a given location, severely weakening, dampening, or blocking out ALL other forms of energy you don't want making its way in.
Yes. All. And no psi-vamp can use their talents within the area either, except perhaps your own. This is an extraordinarily flexible technique simply because of its simple nature and the fact it needs almost no form of programming.
Rather, it relies on instincts and personal beliefs to function. It needs little energy, since the ring you design, when infused with psi, gathers and retains power held within the circle. Graveyards may be an example of this idea in reverse, rather, the superstition and fear surrounding it create a power of its own which can be sensed by anyone with a care to do so.
There are two separate methods, visualization (the quick and dirty way) or sigils (slightly more reliable, since your subconscious has something physical to invision...)
Or even a combination of the two.
Through visualization, release energy throughout your body, allow it to expand in a fine aura around your body... Create a ring in your mind around an area, of which you are the center, and infuse that circle with energy and release the remnants of yours into the circle. Be sure to allow yourself complete and utter openness to that area, feeling the life, the forces within it-- without that, the effect is diminished because that location does not have any special importance or feeling to it in your mind.
The more familiar the area, the easier it is to encircle. Your home is always a perfect example, I can set a ring up easily around mine just because of how emotionally close I am to my own.
As your energy mists out, it will reach the edge of the circle and go no farther. Now, allow the circle to fade slightly, ONLY the outline, ever so slightly. It will begin to sustain itself shortly afterward.
Now, the same principle exists with the sigil, only instead you infuse energy into a circular symbol or design of some type and essentially overlay that symbol onto an area of familiar ground with energy. Inscribing that symbol nearby will help... I don't know why, but a physical copy adds stability.
Running energy into the sigil instantly 'charges' the field itself after you've layed it down. Both forms are equally powerful theoretically, but the other form binds you closer to an area, resulting in a stronger field.
Note: The sigil does not have to be a closed circle (though that helps) it can be any design that you choose to make it, but don't use the same sigil for more than one piece of ground... Creates confusion. Different people can use similar sigils though.
The advantage is that the field will stretch in EVERY direction, and covers every inch of ground. Its flexible, you and others can channel energy despite the field without any difficulty, but malicious energies dissipate almost instantly. It requires no upkeep, and cannot be removed or weakened. (unless you used a sigil, in which case the physical sigil(s) can be destroyed).
However, it does require you to open yourself to an area and understand it intimately, except in the case of a sigil.
Please pardon typos, I think my fingers are bleeding now. I typed it out on a phone, and the spell check won't work with mobile programming.
