Donating

I have a paypal account and I could create a thingy so you all can donate, but I'm not sure about it. The money would only be used for the site like a better chatroom, no ads on the forum (will help the forum load faster) I could get a domain for the site, maybe even buy a better main site. I would give a report in the newsletter as to where the money is going and how much we have left. But I don't want to harm the reputation of the site or create something no one will donate to. What are your thoughts?

It's not like your paying to use the site, its there choice to donate.

It'd be peoples' choice to donate, so I say go for it. However, I think that most of what you buy with the money should be payable in one-time format, rather than subscription-based. If you get less money one month than another, you're pretty much out of luck as far as subscriptions go.

well some of the stuff like the ad free boards I can't help but do by month. I'll also wait until I get a certain amount of money before I start using it for things like that. Another thing donators don't get any special titles or benefits. You get a big thanks and a big hug, but no karma points. I'm not favoring anyone.

Also, if you want to keep it respectful dont have the Donation sign sticking out so much, but also don't hide it to much.

I am all for donation, as if I had any spare money, I would have offered to donate already.

I do agree that those who donate should get nothing except a thank you message. Too many places give things for donates, and that is a quick way to lose respect. Just thanking people is a good plan.

well the problem is..1 dollar=6 of my currency...plus there is no pay pal in egypt..so its just so hard for me

Anyone who has even the slightest ability to feel empathy will know that your intentions with the papal account are honest. I'm excited about this community exploding into something spectacular, we can't do that without finantial backing.

I would love to. When I get some money, and get a paypal account, I have this thing where every ad I click on, every day, gives me 2 cents, then after i get 25 dollars, I get to cash it out into a paypal account. I can donate that.
