Lucid dreaming is being aware that you are in a dream, I've had several, the best way to test if you are dreaming would be looking at your watch and see if the time changes radically, thats one of the methods I use anyway.

there are many ways to lucid dream some are hard some are easy ima tell you one way you can lucid dream which is fairly easy to practice step 1: you gotta realize that you have 4-6 dreams a night. If you cant remember 4-6 dreams then you need to start here. Every night before going to sleep you need to put out a intention to remember your dreams. after doing this you should be able to remember all dreams that you had. step 2: probably the hardest. In order to have a lucid dream you gotta become conscious in your dream, but how? Theres many ways one example is to lie down when your ready to go to sleep and keep your eyes open, dont strain them to keep them open, what your trying to do here is to catch yourself fall asleep. step 3: Remain Calm, any kind of exitement at first will wake you up with a jolt! step 4: before you go to bed program a dream before you fall asleep. imagine it in your mind like a video. when your lucid dreaming just snap your finger and voila! yup and remember this can take weeks or even months. and also a note that your body needs at least 8 hours of sleep! if you mess up your sleeping pattern it greatly affects you of being conscious in your dream. if you want to hear the audio version of these steps or just need motivation go to this lilnk: www.stevepavlina.com/podcasts/Pavlina-010-Lucid-Dreaming.mp3

Hey, I'm a (relatively) new member here too. I've actually lucid dreamt ever since I was little, but I didn't realize exactly what they were until I joined. So, I'm not sure how exactly you're supposed to do it; for me it was never taking steps and planning to make it work, it's just sort of happened. It's simply just realizing that your dream is a dream and is not really happening; it is not reality. I think what would definetely help is if you said an affirmation before you went to bed; although sometimes this backfires: because you are looking forward to having a psi "moment," it simply won't occur. (This often happens when I try to have a retrocognition or something similar "on demand," for me it occurs at the randomest times.) I hope this helps!

Becoming aware that your dreaming happens to me almost EVERY night, but not always. First of all, if I think I'm in a dream, I try to figure it out. Look around for things that wouldn't normally happen, I.E. Someone kissing someone that would never happen, pigs flying, ect. ect. Then, I usually know by then, and then if I know it is, I usually let the dream continue on, without me changing it. If I want to, I will, but I don't normally. Good luck, and hope I helped some.

If I'm not woken by someone or something, and I wake naturally, then I always get 30-40 minutes of lucid dreaming before I wake up, every time. I still haven't managed to LD purposefully, but I'm quite adept at controlling my dreams once the LD starts.

Lucid Dreaming owns. Easiest way for Astral Projection for me, and a great source of fun if you're not interested in OOBE. Here's a few tips for you that will improve your chances of Lucid Dreaming. They worked well for me. #1: This one here is THE most important one. Dream Diary. As soon as you wake up, write down all of your dreams that you can remember. When you go to sleep at night, tell yourself as you fall asleep "Tonight I am going to remember ALL of my dreams tonight, with DETAIL." As you start writing in the journal you'll see a huge improvement. (usually) In my first 3 days of using a journal my dream recall boosted by a huge amount. Remembering you dreams tells your subconscious that you are interested in your dreams, and can help with lucidity. #2: Reality check. Make it a habit (even if it makes you look insane) of asking yourself twice an hour if you are dreaming. The point is you will do it so often that you start asking this in your sleep. NEVER EVER just answer the question either. ALWAYS check to make sure. Pinch yourself, look at your hands, go to something electronic and press a button. Do whatever it takes to make sure that you are not dreaming. If you wear a watch I hear this works wonders, cause you can look at the numbers and if you are dreaming you can make them change to not make sense. (this didn't work too well for me personally.) #3: The early rise. Set an alarm to wake yourself up early on the weekend, just so you can go back to bed. (As you fall back to sleep keep thinking THE NEXT THING I SEE WILL BE A DREAM) If you're sleeping in anyway, might as well be lucid dreaming. If you don't sleep in on weekends you can always like set the alarm a half hour early on normal days, switch it up then go back to sleep. #4 Staying in a lucid dream. Okay, this technique is GOD of Lucid Dreaming. When you have a Lucid dream most of the time you will get excited and wake up. Normally your first thought is to just stay calm and you won't wake up. Doesn't work, in fact, thinking and staying calm almost always makes you wake up. If you become lucid and start to wake up, SPIN SPIN SPIN! Try and get dizzy, try to remember the feeling of spinning. I don't know why, it makes no sense, but 99% of the time if I spin in a lucid dream, I stay in the dream for longer. It's repeatable, I chained like five different dreams together once by spinning each time I started to wake up. (That was a nice long experience lol) This is pretty much everything that I do, because they worked well for me. I have at least 3 lucid dreams a week usually, sometimes more. That's not counting the brief ones were I'm only lucid for a second or two. There was also a method where when you wake up you walk the same path through your house and out into your yard, knocking on the walls and such as you go. I could never get in the habit of it to make it work, but once you get a good grasp on what your dream world is like (dream diary ftw) you can customize the techniques to make them work best for you. Best of luck! (Even though this is like a month late )

Oooh sounds useful. I'm fine once I'm in a lucid dream but I always have trouble getting started in the first place. I shall try this starting tonight
