But why would it be AP? Since when was he out of his body? I thought he was dreaming. Um, yes. I'm a girl.

Red. Some might not know they're aping and think they're dreaming. Even though starting beside yourself is a good place to start in aping, you could start anywhere. When I had my first AP I started in my own personally created 'space' which consisted of a flowing stream with a oak or willow tree, by some hills.
I think It may have been lucid dreaming but you might have transferred into ap without knowing.

When I first APed, I was guided to some type of temple where I was shown around for about 30 seconds, then came back to myself.

They came again a few days ago. Except this time, I somehow subconsciously realized how to bring them on, and I did. Of course, I forgot how to about five minutes later. And it felt somehow more ap-like, then dream like.
I've also been having weird feelings lately. :S I don't know exactly what they are, but they just make me feel...wrong. Strange. Like a really bad atmosphere, but nothing bad is actually happening. I've had this feeling ever since I was very little, four or five, but ever since it's been different things, memories, or situations that bring the feeling on. It changes with its own will. I don't actually know what is is, but it comes usually in dreams.
It's come twice, within a month. From different dreams, but it usually only come like once every two years or so. I don't know what it could mean, but I guess that's why I'm posting it up here.

Shielding or Filtering is supposed to be good for that. When you're sleeping, you tend to be more vulnerable to undesirable energies. Perhaps there's a certain kind of energy that triggers this particular feeling. I personally haven't experimented much with combining shields/filters with sleep, but it'd be very interesting to look into and try. Heck, it may be new grounds for psionics altogether.

But it says conscious, not being awake...
You can be asleep and conscious... as in Lucid Dreaming.

Yes, I think it was probably lucid dreaming, but it may have started to move into astral projection, slightly. I've been trying to do it whilst I'm awake, but I don't really know if I've gotten there yet. Luckily, I can almost always remember my dreams, I just have to strain my memory a bit. I have a good memory in general (actually, it works exceptionally well.) It helps to write them down.

I've done this ever since I was little, but lately it's been happening way more often. I'll either be falling asleep or waking up. When I'm falling asleep, it's like I'm still (almost) fully awake, and then I'll start dreaming, but I still know I'm awake. When I'm waking up, I'll be dreaming something, and then I'll realize it's morning, and I'll (usually) decide I don't want to wake up. So I'll be aware of my surroundings, but the dream will keep playing in my mind. The only time when it goes away is if I open my eyes. It's really confusing because it's like REM sleeping and being awake at the same time, which I'm quite sure is impossible. Could it maybe be something else, or am I just strange? Same here, but it wouldn't be REM sleep. You're still only partly conscious, as far as I can tell. It happens for some people while they're sleeping, and someone else enters the room-- the sleeping person is still out of it, but 'aware' the person has entered. When that person leaves, you drop right back unconscious again. It's an old defense mechanism, preserving the body's energy while maintaining a degree of alertness. From that stage, you can easily leap up totally awake, or fall right back into a deeper stage of sleep. Incidentally, it's the perfect situation for (yes) lucid dreaming and astral projection, for those of you who mentioned it. Your body is still out cold, but you are mentally aware of your surroundings. If you think about it, a lot of times you can actually 'feel' the environment: where everything is, how far away, the way the person is moving, all of it. Think of it as being hyper-aware while totally out cold, which is a bit of an oxymoron. When I realized I could bring that same feeling on in a dream, I never had a nightmare again. Not for a loooooong time, because once you do, you can control how you sleep and dream... I just still can't get the projecting bit down, unfortunately.

Wow, that sounds so close to what happened to me. The last time I had a nightmare I was five. Whenever I can sense (in my dream) that I'm having a nightmare I just simply wake myself up, and problem solved.
