I know, this is a well thought about thing. I've just recently thought of this: If the people keep using that one thing that's only affective against it, TamaFlu or whatever, won't it eventally get immune to it? I'm thinking about a wide spread immunity. I think that, and this sounds HARSH, but, the people that have it, shouldn't use the TamaFlu to cure them. I think that their body should be on it's own with some basic antibiotics. I mean, if we use that, and not the only thing that's real effective, that would save a world of trouble if the Bird Flu was to breakout. Don't you think?

If they save Tamiflu for later, it begs the question of what it's getting saved for. How badly does it need to break out before use of the stuff is warranted? And who would it be used on? If this flu is nasty even to those with normal immune systems, it may be wiser to use Tamiflu to fight its spread until they can make a vaccine against it, or at least develop some new drugs. And if the flu becomes immune eventually, at least Tamiflu was able to serve its purpose for some time.
Just a note... antibiotics don't work on viruses like the flu.

Yea, I agree. If the tamiflu was saved for however long, and then the bird flu got really bad, then only certain people would get it anyway. Ex. The rich....thats all I've got for now.

Sorry, i meant to put antivirals I know that, but, I think, they should take a test: Let at least 10 people who have it ride it out with some other antivirals, and then wait. If at least ONE of them gets immune, and lives through, they could take out the antibodies in their blood(only a few) and then put them into someone's elses body. Of course, it would take alot of work to do it, but, I think it's worth the risk.

I would need it. The flu nearly killed me once. My body's immune system is no good. I have to get special treatment and such because of it and I rarely take medicines, but once I get sick, I get SIIIIIIIIIIICK. And I stay that way, until I have to be rushed to the doctors. I have a decent immune system until I get sick. XD

Well, that's not the purpose of an immune system then -_-. But, the Bird Flu KILLS your immune system basicly. It latches on, and it go BOOM, then gets off, then makes like 10 more, then infects 10 more, then those 10 makes 10 more, and so on. It's just something that happens.

I wouldn't know to much, such subjects sometimes depress me. I don't think it's good to be scared about it though. And getting treatment right now doesn't sound good at all o.0; because who knows, maybe it'll strike in 10 years, maybe it'll never.

That's the thing. That's what my thinking was of. I mean, if it happens to mutate, I'll be moving to Canada, Mexico, or somewhere else. I hope it doesn't, but some of my dreams have been very very convincing, and they have had horrible things that have happened, or might happen. So, I think that they should save TamiFlu for the time we need it most later.

You should just take Tamiflu. When it comes immune, we'll probably have something else. And, hopefully, it won't break out more than once.

But it's very hard to get a vaccine or another drug because it's always mutating, and we don't know exactly how to make it for the Bird Flu. It has to do something with the hemoglobin and the N1 or whatever, H5N1. Once they get a vaccine, i think that we'll have it.

So you rather have the disease get stronger before you use the cure? In that case you might not make it... And plus it has a better chance at mutating if it has a lot of stamina left.

You do have a point, but if someone survives, they could just take out the antibodies in their blood, just some, then do the stuff to make a vaccine, then they could do it that way, right? I mean, it would take a long time, but that's besides the point. That's IF we had to.

You realise you can't make a vaccine for flu that will last more than a couple of years, right?

They can make a vaccine. We can keep if for later use if we need it. I'm not saying we WILL use it, but we should make one just in case this flu because widespread and breaks out.

The antibodies would only work for the form of the flu at the time. As soon as it mutates we would be screwed. How do you think normal cures for this stuff work?
