I think that a Hero can be a lot of stuff. Pretty wide range, from the person that makes a positive influence in someone, to the one that does acts that help someone, or even someone that without noticing does some good to someone else. So there would be the Heroes that seek to be Heroes, and the ones that are by mistake. And I'm only stating Human acts, I know that the sunday afternoon sandwich saves you from starving but I don't consider it a Hero ... If someone gave it to you, maybe then. But a Hero is more trascendental than just a good action, it has to be something that greatly helps, or does some major good. Because I can open the door for someone and even though it is a good act, I doubt I can be considered a Hero by someone,( Although there's not a well-stablished criteria for the good act to be considered Heroic), for me helping cross an old lady the street is just being a good Citizen, but maybe for the grandkids of the old lady I'm a big hero. It's relative, but for me a Hero is someone that does a good action, or many good actions that are trascendental for one or more people.

Mr.E, you are asking, "how do you define hero?" but wasn't that the original answer to you?

It would be rough to define to a hero as each culture is different. In the US it might be one who is rich and gives to the poor, in Burma it might be a poor monk that increases the number of people who follow his way of life. You would also have to take into account personal views, one persons hero might be anothers worst enemy. Some where out there, Bin Laden has people saying that he is a hero who danced in the ring with the devil and one.
