This is entirely false. Most flower species of plants are both male and female. Many seed-species of plants are entirely asexual and reproduce simply by getting its seed planted into the ground. Many unicellular organisms are asexual and reproduce simply by splitting. Some plants (certain types of cacti, for example) are able to reproduce simply by cutting off a piece of the parent and planting it - and this applies to many Worms as well (cut a worm in half and it will regrow into 2 worms). Some species are also entirely female (the Cow) or entirely male (the Steer), and some species are so asexual that they do not reproduce (the butt)
Also false. As far as I'm aware, humans and dolphins are the only species capable of sexual pleasure. Other animals do it sheerly out of instinct. Pleasure evolved in humans, presumably as a further incentive. It must have worked because now we're overpopulating the world.
Only true of certain species. Many species will just leave the young to fend for themselves (as they mature extremely rapidly). The bond between the male and the female praying mantis and black widow spider is so strong that after mating (that is, mantis e. mantis, or spider e spider. They don't cross-mate >.<), the female eats the male. In ant colonies, the female is impregnated by multiple males, and then the males shortly die off.

Okay so here's where I pick apart the picking apart. A) Plants are species and it is true that every flower has both male and female parts and that they can self pollinate, but honestly flowers have no consciousness and there workings are completely mechanical. B) The steer and the cow, are both cattle they are just given individual names, just like a doe and a buck, a boy and a girl and well you get the picture. C)The butt must mate because well... there's still asses. I do know however that the mule (cross breed between horse and butt) is infertile. D) Snails and worms do only have one sex as do some frogs, except they just randomly change (lol Jurassic Park). And well I agree with you on that one, but just because snails didn't evolve in the same way as humans doesn't mean that humans evolving to experience sexual pleasure wasn't to coax the the mating process into happening. E) More than just humans and dolphins experience sexual pleasure, it's just that they are the only two species that mate for pleasure. F) The bond between male and female may be absent in some creatures, but we are talking about human evolution here, not the praying mantis.

I think sexual intercourse is for whatever you make it. Just some people go crazy over it then it becomes a dangerous thing. And thankyou Jedi for allowing this topic.

Well, I still say that it can be for both. Some want the pleasure that comes with it, and not necessarily reproduction. Some would rather have just reproduction. Some want both. It's really what your view is. But as I said, I'm a person that doesn't believe in sex before marriage.

And bypass the whole pleasure thing? Are they crazy? I mean, to each their own, but that seems even stranger than masochism - but I guess I shouldn't dismiss it. I'm sure there's probably a religion or cult or such out there that says that reproduction or life in general should not utilize pleasure.

Well, there was some religion that didn't believe in sex at all. The children were all adopted.
Needless to say, they didn't last too long.

Random quote time!: Dophins and humans are the only two species which have sex for pleasure.
(Sorry if somebody's already said that D:)

You mean it died out? Haha.
Like someone mentioned before, there is such thing as asexual reproduction. But doesn't that just result in what basically amount to clones of the original organism? Sounds like it would take them a long time to adapt to anything. Then again if they're clumsy enough at coping the DNA or whatever they could get some changes that way.

the quakers. Tis a gift to be simple. Indeed, they believed in absolute chastity throughout their entire life (like a religion that only consists of priests). The way they "reproduced" was by indoctrinating other persons and adopting children into their faith. This is the way their faith carried on. I think the reason it died out wasn't because they weren't reproducing, I think it just went out of fashion.
I already said that in my somewhat lengthy post. Timelord then corrected me (I had gotten the semantics wrong - semantics are very important in debate, so kudos for that, Timelord):

Like someone mentioned before, there is such thing as asexual reproduction. Well there are test tube babies.

Even them, they usually require two main components - the donation of a male, and an egg. That's sexual reproduction.
Of course, now we've begun tampering with stem cells from Skin - so this broadens the implications now, and we may very well be able to make a clone human without the need of one of those two components (no embryos are harmed in the making)

well that would be asexual reproduction since there is only one parent.

I haven't really done too much research on this new stem cell method, but I think the Skin Cells must come from a separate donor.

Well, what about women who have kids by themselves? With no sexual activity with another male? They have kids with skin. Stem cells go out into cloning in stuff, I haven't really done research on it though.
