In all honesty, nature intended just for reproduction, right? But, we find pleasure in it though.
So, it's just not for reproduction, it feels good, right? Well, that's why we've came to the fact that it's for pleasure, but still, there are times when a couple wants to have a child, and they go ahead and do their business, liking the pleasure, but in assurance they want to reproduce (for their child).
Humans aren't the only animal that actually have intercourse for fun. Dolphins do too.
