well i would hope so, but it seems not that way. most portuguese can understand and speak spanish, but i recently went to spain, people tend to say "oh i can't speak portuguese"... I don't know why , though.. it's so close...

I didn't said speak, I said understand, it's different. And well ere in Mexico is easier to learn english sice a lot of stuff comes from USA.
