Well I've decided to put some of my writing up. This thread will probably end up containing multiple stories all revolving around the same characters, but at the moment it's just The one continuous on, which just happens to be the new prologue for my story.
The creature stood before Mat, it was huge at least 3 times the size of himself, it looked like nothing he had seen before, it had the usual; legs, arms and a body they sprouted from, but other than that there appeared to be nothing that looked like anything he had seen before. And to add to that it stank, a fowl smell that seemed to make its way into every corner of the room getting no better or worse than anywhere else, it was that pungent that Mat felt as though he would pass out.
Mat had been in the room with this thing for almost an hour now and the only indication that it was alive (that was if something like this could even be alive), was that the strange shrouds, of what appeared to be a lighter-than-air transparent brown cloth, appeared to be moving even though there was absolutely no oxygen flow through the room.
‘Man, you really stink. I’d ask how you stand yourself but, from what I see, you haven’t got a nose… or a face for that matter.’ Mat said. It was the first time he’d said anything in just over an hour, he made sure to note this so he could tell his teachers that he, in-fact, could shut up for more than 2 minutes. They would probably tell him that he could only do that in his dreams, but he couldn’t be dreaming because that would just be too cliché. Besides he knew he talked in his sleep anyway. ‘What’s the matter? Can’t you talk? Okay I’ll admit dumb question. Hey wait a minute maybe the problem is you can’t hear me.’
Mat reached into his pocket a clutched a small item he had in it. He reached out with his mind in an attempt to telepathically communicate with the creature, his telepathic powers being greatly increased by the item in his hand. Can you hear me? The experience that Mat went through as a result of that message would be one he would never forget, but for all the wrong reasons.
All of a sudden an experience like mental feedback assaulted his mind, it was as though every thought, every memory in his head was being multiplied exponentially to the point where it became painful and exhausting, his brain felt as though it would explode with the vast multiplication of data within it and each extra thought was just increasing the pain. And then as soon as it had come it left, leaving Mats head ringing.
Mat awoke with a jolt. It was the fifth night in a row he had had the same dream and it was starting to give him a permanent headache. He fumbled in the dark for his TPE. The back of his hand brushes against something, he heard the dull thud of the expensive TPE hit the ground.
Mat groaned. That was the last thing he needed a broken Telepathy Engine that cost more than most Viraeum earned in… well it was expensive.
He crawled off the bed, and began to search his floor for the TPE.
After what felt like an age fumbling about in the darkness he found the TPE. Once he had it safely within his grip he used it to ignite the light above his bed. Viraeum technology seemed so stupid to Mat. Everything was based on telepathy and without their TPE to assist them, they had useless Telepathy skills. If someone ever wanted to render the Viraeum incapable of doing, well anything, all they would have to do is find a way to take out the TPE’s. The rest of the Viraeum were just so naive that they felt safe no matter how much danger the Ragnar Gra’ Kayaeum put them in.
His fellow students at Naya Gra’ Coma were some of the worst offenders, to them the Ragnar Gra’ Kayaeum were gods. Thank gods today is the day I’m done with this place for good he thought.
Not long later…
‘And finally leaving with an excellent record, the greatest student in this schools history, past and future is, Mathew Ethers.’ Aldren Caspen, Naya Gra’ Comaeumin announced.
Mat walked onto the platform, flashing a forced smile at the audience. After reaching Aldren, he shook his hand and added a tight squeeze just to show the man that their differences hadn’t been resolved. After accepting his award he hastily left the stage and disappeared.
No-one noticed his disappearance, he had made sure of that with some slight adjustments of his TPE. All he had to do was short the suggestion filter. The audience were all so brainwashed into a false sense of security that none of them had bothered turning on their TPE’s safety features, in an effort to save power consumption.
‘Idiots, absolute idiots.’ Mat said to himself walking into a small tavern in medieval Britain.
Constructive criticism is welcome.

A Tavern (somewhere in England) 1409
Petronella placed the pint of ale on the table. She wondered about the man who had requested it. He was strange, very strange, his clothes were so clean and so was his hair, and it had been 2 seasons since the last bath. And he didn’t look like one of the nobles.
‘Many thanks.’ He said, the words sounded unnatural because of his strange accent.
‘Thou art an alien to this land, are not thou.’ Petronella asked him.
‘And thou-self is rather well spoken for a bar maid.’ Petronella thought she heard a slight Scottish inflection in his accent.
‘Thou would do well to leave. My father is not fond of Scotsmen in his tavern.’ There was a true concern in her voice, this man did not look like he could defend himself against a man such as her father. And no man deserved a beating like that, Scotsmen or not.
‘Oh don’t worry lass.’ The man said, now adopting a full Scottish accent and purposefully raising his voice. ‘I’m from a little further away than that. And I’m just itchin’ for a good fight.’ Men all through the bar began standing.
‘Okay lads, lets play fair,’ Mat said, eying one of the more shady types in the corner reach for his dagger. ‘no weapons and no taking it easy on me,’ he adopted an accent that Petronella didn’t recognise ‘Because I will whoop yo’ butt.’
Almost simultaneously every man in the bar lunged towards Mat. He assessed his situation 9 men surrounding him completely, only one way to go. He quickly jumped and hoisted himself onto the rafters causing 5 of the men to fall in a tangled mess on the ground below him. The other 4 however were a little more prepared.
‘Thank God for Earths lack of gravity.’ Mat said out loud, his strange comment did not go unnoticed by one of the members of the bar. The shady guy that Mat had spotted in the corner earlier reached into his pocket for something. Mat began to make his way through the rafters to the man. Shouts came from underneath him and a ceramic bowl collided with the crossbeam under his feet sending shrapnel in all directions.
‘Oh right I’d forgotten about you guys.’ Mat’s urge to fight had suddenly subsided replaced by an overwhelming curiosity. The thought ‘curiosity killed the cat’ popped into his head but he ignored it. The smash of another bowl, this time on the roof, jerked him back to his current situation. He reached into his pocket and clutched the TPE. Everybody in the room suddenly lost any pervious intent for a brawl they had previously had, going back to doing whatever it was they were before the fight.
Mat nimblely crossed the rafters and unnoticed, sat on the rafter and fell backwards holding on to the crossbeam bent-legged, like a young child on a play-gym.
‘Watcha do-in?’ He said in a childish voice.
‘I believe the question should be what are you doing?’
‘I asked first.’
‘Answer the question.’ The hooded figure stated, with obvious mistrust in his voice which, however rough, sounded vaguely feminine.
‘Oh, rude much?’ Mat replied pulling a face. ‘Well then… what am I doing here? Well at this very moment I am talking to a very impolite young man, whose mother obviously didn’t take the liberty of teaching him respect.’
‘Very funny.’ The man pulled of his hood to reveal long flowing blonde hair, accompanied by an extremely attractive face. ‘Also very true, other than one minor detail, well it actually the lack of a minor detail, and the presence of 2 major ones.’
‘Oh, a sense of humour, I do like a good one… well, set of those.’
‘This from a man who only seconds ago was accusing me of being rude.’ Any previous masculinity in her voice had disappeared.
‘Nice trick. Very convincing.’ Mat said ‘You still haven’t answered my Question though.’
‘I am here for you.’
‘I’m touched.’
‘Funny.’ The woman rolled her eyes.
‘Okay if you won’t answer that at least tell me your name.’
‘Andrea.’
‘Andrea who?’
‘No Andrea Ethers.’
‘darn because if you had been Andrea Who, I could have asked if you were a doctor…’ Andrea looked at Mat with a gaze that would have killed most ‘never mind. Hang on, rewind a bit here… ETHERS? We’re related? Bloody hell, why am I always related to the hot ones’
‘We aren’t related… at least in that sense.’
‘So I still have a chance?’
‘Don’t count on it.’ Andrea said pulling her hood over her head.
‘Now come with me.’
‘1, 2, 3, 4…’
‘What are you doing?’
‘Counting.’ Mat said, a large grin appearing on his face.
The journey that followed took around 3 hours by Mat’s body-clock, but it had been thrown by his teleport earlier.
‘Of course it would help if I had a clock!’ Mat yelled from inside the trunk he had been locked in.
‘Oh shut up.’ Andrea said opening it.
‘Can you please clarify for me, as to why exactly I had to be locked in a god-damned trunk?’ Mat asked climbing out of the trunk.
'Safety reasons'
‘Safety reasons? I spend three hours locked in a trunk and all I get is safety reasons? A kiss and an ‘I’m sorry, Mat we had too’, would have been appreciated a lot more.’
‘Not now.’
‘Later?’ Mat said hopefully.
‘We’ll see.’
‘It was only minutes ago that you seemed like you were ready to kill me, and now this?’
‘Yes, but that was in public.’
‘Well, thanks for the self esteem boost.’
Mat looked around, his pupils rapidly adjusting to the light. Viraeum eyes had the ability to adjust quickly, due to the strange behaviour of light on their home planet.
Something wasn’t right, The sun was different, at a different angle and more intense… and it wasn’t raining.
‘We can’t be in Britain! It’s sunny!’
‘That’s right.’ Andrea called over her shoulder ‘Now hurry up!’
‘Where are we?’ Mat asked running to catch up.
‘Nowhere you’ll ever hear of, but right about now we’ll be in Colorado 2009, the scene around Mat began to morph, tree’s became white, and the ground beneath him became snow.’
‘And I thought your voice trick was cool.’ Mat said. ‘You’re obviously not Viraeum… even I can’t do that, unless you have had some sort of technical assistance.’
‘No. It’s all natural.’
‘I’ve never heard of abilities like this, what species are you exactly? Just wait I’m missing the important question here. How do you feal about interspecies relationships?’
‘You are a sleaze. You do know that, don’t you?’ Andrea said sharply. ‘And besides I’m way too old for you.’
‘Sorry.’ Mat said, making a mental note to stop making sexist remarks. ‘I’ve been trapped in that god-damned school for the last 40 years of my life and my social skills aren’t exactly up to scratch.’
‘I know, don’t worry, you do eventually become quite a gentleman.’
Mat felt a sharp pain in the back of his head, and then he blacked out.

Mat awoke with a start.
‘What the hell was that for?’
‘What the hell was what for?’ a feminine voice asked.
Mat looked up to see a rather attractive young woman sitting on the bed next to the one he was laying on. The bright sun shone through the window illuminating her blonde-brown hair.
‘Wha… Who… Where the hell am I?’
‘Miami.’
‘How the hell did I get to Miami.’ Mat asked ‘I can’t have been out for more than 5 minutes.’
‘Well I think your sense of time must be a bit out, you’ve been here the last 2 days.’
‘That’s impossible…’
‘Not necessarily, time always seems to pass quicker when you’re unconscious.’
‘No it’s impossible basic Viraeum biology, due to a chemical reaction in the brain, Viraeum regain consciousness after about 5 minutes.’
‘I think that bump did a little more than I thought.’
‘Oh right human, sorry I forgot.’
‘Right…’
‘What sort of accent is that? Irish?’
‘Yeah, why?’
‘Ha, funny. I’m not burned am I?’
‘No why?’ The woman asked. ‘What’s so funny?’
‘What year is it?’
‘2004 of course.’
‘Oh right, still another few years ‘til you’ll get that one.’
‘You don’t happen to know how I got here do you?’ Mat asked. ‘No of course you wouldn’t, people like her don’t wok with people like you.’
‘And what sort of person would I be, exactly?’
‘Human, all though I do see a touch of Aryan. Any recent ancestors have an close encounter of the pleasant kind?’
‘You are a very strange man, but I like you. Do you need somewhere to stay?’
‘Well, can’t I stay here?’
‘Not for much longer, this place isn’t very safe of a Friday night.’
‘Right then, I guess we best be going then.’
‘Why? It’s only Tuesday.’
‘Semper paratus…’
‘Lisa.’
‘Semper paratus, Lisa, semper paratus.’
‘And never ready.’
‘You speak Latin and have a sense of humour… I’m liking you more and more each minute.’
Gunshots echoed through the air.
‘God I love Miami.’ Mat said excitedly. ‘Hold my arm.’ Mat focused back on medieval Britain, waiting for the familiar tug of the teleportation. Nothing.
‘Oh Come-on!’ Mat yelled. Shouts echoed from outside. ‘Oops.’
‘What do we do?’ Lisa asked.
‘Well by the sounds of it, we have 5 men 400 metres down the hall from us, with at least one Glock 19, 9 millimetre and 2 desert eagle 50 cals.’
‘And…’
‘Run.’ With that Mat franticly ran to the door jamming the chair next to it against the floor.
Only seconds later the door handle rattled and someone on the other side started barging the door. Mat ran over to the window where Lisa stood in an obviously thoughtful stance.
‘Well don’t just stand there, do something.’ Mat stuck his head out the window, and saw the ground four stories below him. ‘Oh.’ He reached into his pocket, the silk of the suit felt soft against his hand. Suit… when did I get a suit? And more importantly where is my TPE? Mat thought to himself. At least it’s a nice suit. The banging against the door increased in force.
‘Oh right, I forgot about them.’ Mat said. ‘Okay Lisa I’ll jump down, then I’ll catch you.’
‘We’re four stories up!’
‘Don’t worry I’m used too much stronger gravity.’ Mat dived out of the window before Lisa could protest. He landed on the ground feet first after a graceful flip mid air. His knees collapsed from the force, if it hadn’t been for some quick thinking and a roll he would have broken his legs. So I’ve been here longer than I thought, that shouln’t have hurt that much. Mat said to himself.
‘Your turn!’ Mat called up to where Lisa was standing precariously on the window ledge.
‘Your limp doesn’t give me the greatest confidence.’ She called back.
‘At least I made it!’
‘… I don’t even know your name!’
‘It’s Mat, now would you bloody jump already.’
Lisa jumped reluctantly, she didn’t know why she trusted this “Mat’ so much, but her instincts told her that she could trust him and she wasn’t one to go against her instincts. The fall only last a second or so, she felt Mats arms help decelerate her fall, stopping her only a few inches from the ground. She felt his strong arms lift her upright, she was amazed at his strength for such an average sized man. He laughed.
‘What?’ Lisa asked.
‘Oh, just ever since you jumped all I’ve been able to think of is ‘landing Mat’.’
Lisa would have burst out laughing except for the bullet that sizzled past her head, colliding with the pavement next to Mats foot.
‘Not good.’ Mat said. Out of nowhere he felt the tug of teleportation, he quickly reached out and grabbed Lisa’s arm. He began to feel the air rush around him and the vibrations of pushing his body into the 4th dimension. He could see everything in the timeline like this. Just as 3 dimensionally he could see in 2 dimensions, 4 dimensionally he could see in three dimensions. It was hard to explain, whenever he had described it in the past he had told people to imagine if the world was 2 dimensional, you would only be able to see lines, however a 3 dimensional person viewing it can see an amazing picture. It was the same in 4 dimensions, he could observe everything 3 without interference, no “lines” blocking his sight.
Of course, it was impossible to describe in full to any three dimensional being. Lisa was going through an experience that, by Mats knowledge no human had ever been through. Finding the location he wanted in the timeline, he thrust himself and Lisa back into the third dimension.
‘What just happened?’ Lisa asked.
‘Long, very complicated story.’ Mat replied.
‘It was like I could see everything.’
‘The fourth dimension tends to do that. Wait until you see the fifth.’
‘How is that possible? The fourth dimension?’
‘Like I said, it’s a long and complicated story.’
‘We have time’ Lisa said, mere seconds before the wall next to them exploded into a cloud of dust and flying stone.
‘God darn, we’re in the wrong castle!’ Mat yelled. ‘What is with my luck lately?’

Mat turned to face Lisa. Her mouth was agape and she was pale. He looked down at her chest to see a large splinter of wood embedded in her heart.
‘No!’ Mat yelled ‘Where’s my TPE?’ Lisa made a gasping noise as though she was trying to talk.
‘Hold on, don’t die, I can fix this!’ Mat screamed at her. ‘Okay then,’ he said calming down now. ‘when you found me did I have a thing that looked like an egg, except bigger on me?’
Lisa feebly pointed towards ground behind Mat. Turning around he saw the pale blue egg shaped TPE lying on the ground.
‘And how did you get here, hey?’ Mat said addressing the TPE, now completely calm. He picked it up and felt his sensitivity reach out as his skin came in contact with the device. His consciousness filled the area around him, a thousand times more potent because of the amplifier in the TPE. He focused his concentration to Lisa’s chest region and the fragment of wood lodged in it. It began to withdraw itself slowly from her chest. As Mat pulled the fragment out he began to repair the area it behind closing it the hole it had torn in her heart, reconnecting blood vessels and “welding” the flesh back together. He had never attempted anything so hard.
‘Why do living things have to be so bloody complicated?’ He asked to himself.
He sensed Lisa heart beginning to arrest. Trying to keep Lisa from dieing was one thing, but keeping her from dieing and having a heart attack was something in a completely new ball park.
It took almost 20 minutes but Mat managed to close all the wounds completely, and safely, at least as safe as one can be in the middle of a war on another planet.
Lisa was sleeping, Mat had knocked her out so she didn’t have to bear the excruciating pain. He carried her down the hallway, towards where he knew the door would be. As he walked he wondered why the TPE, was called a TPE, after all it main function was Telekinesis. It should be called a TE, Tele-Engine, but then again essentially it isn’t an engine he thought, rather an amplifier. TA, Tele-amplifier would make more sense. He kicked the door open.
Light flooded in to the otherwise dark entrance hall. Mat walked out into the dull sunlit fields, filled with soldiers, slaughtering each other in vibrant blue and green coloured uniforms that seemed to glow in the dim light. About a mile away there was another tower-like castle which, like its twin, whom Mat had just exited, looked to have seen better days. And in between them stood the building Mat was looking for, a bright green and blue building, this was the building Mat was interested in. It lay completely unharmed in the middle of this chaotic environment.
Mat walked through the chaos unfazed dirt flying all around him and the clang of steel on steel. All the soldiers ignored him as though they couldn’t see him, or at least as if they didn’t care about his presence. It took 30 minutes of weaving through the chaos to reach the building, which on closer examination Mat noticed was made of a strong metallic alloy. Kicking the door open and walking in, mat looked around. The room was mainly empty, other than the bar staff.
Mat placed Lisa down gently on a table. One of the female bar staff, wearing a vest that glowed a purple colour noticed the pair and rushed over.
‘Mat, haven’t seen you in a while.’ The woman said. ‘I guess you’ll want your room?’
‘Please.’ Mat replied. The Woman nodded. ‘Thanks Charlotte.’
Charlotte walked behind the bar, Mat picked Lisa up and followed her. Nodding to the bartender who respectfully nodded back. Mat continued through a door behind the bar into a large room, that was worthy of the presidential suite in a 5 star hotel.
Charlotte held the door open for Mat so he could carry charlotte in, before quickly leaving the room closing the door behind her.
[you]-NEW-[/you]
Mat laid Charlotte gently on the bed. He walked to one of the windows that encircled the room and looked down upon the chaos, miles below. He marvelled at the Aumisian technology that, the entire building complex was made of. Surrounding him were thousands of rooms similar to his, hovering mid air. He remembered making this place, it had been almost a hundred years ago now. His parents had given him the money to build it after he’d accidentally found the planet so many years ago.
He had tied it to himself in a way that it followed him in the fourth dimension wherever he went. Later scientists would call it a rouge solar system, which would randomly relocate itself in time, however only Mat knew that it’s appearance wasn’t random, after all he decided where it would go next.
This had been his safe haven the last 90 years, whenever he had needed to get away from it all he came here. In the midst of all this battle he found his peace. Also a very good income, he rented out the other rooms, almost like a hotel, this had been Mat’s first and most successful business, and all before he had even attended the Naya ‘Gra Coma.
He reluctantly drew his gaze away from the window and back inside the room. Lisa lay on the bed silently breathing. Mat walked over to the opposite wall where the sofa was located. He laid down on it and promptly fell asleep.

The mental feedback assaulted Mat’s mind. It was happening again, Mat couldn’t understand how he kept getting back here. It couldn’t be a dream, could it? He would have remembered if he was dreaming it. His head throbbed. And then nothing, as soon as the pain had come, it subsided, leaving Mat lying on the floor staring up at the creature standing over him. Its smell was slowly going away, replaced with waffles… waffles?
Mat awoke the sweet aroma of waffles filled the air. He opened his eyes and looked over to the bed where Lisa had been last night. It was empty and Mat could hear humming through the open door. Dragging himself off the couch he walked to the door.
Lisa was standing in a kitchen next to a waffle iron, with a cup of coffee in her hand.
‘Morning.’ Mat said walking into the room. ‘Hows your chest?’
‘It’s a little tender, but a hell of a lot better than if you hadn’t helped.’ She replied ‘What exactly did you do?’
‘Something I hope never to do again. Let’s try to keep you alive from now on hey?’
‘No arguments here.’ The light on the waffle iron went out. ‘Now let’s eat.’
After they had finished eating, Mat teleported them to the building far below them, as the door appeared to be faulty. The bar was abuzz with people, mainly humanoid species but Mat noticed a few insectoids and gaseous beings. Charlotte noticed Mat and walked over, weaving between the many tables.
‘This way sir.’ Charlotte instructed, leading Mat towards yet another door. Mat followed as did Lisa. Through the door was another room surrounded by windows, except this one looked like a restaurant, the walls were lined with tables, some were inhabited, Mat waved to some of them, who waved back or nodded in recognition.
‘Just over there.’ Charlotte pointed to a table in the corner of the room, which appeared to be hovering over a missing bit of floor.
Mat walked over unfazed by the apparent lack of a floor. Lisa however was a bit more hesitant, but after seeing Mat walk across the invisible floor, slowly and reluctantly followed. Charlotte retreated through yet another door and came back shortly afterwards with a menu.
‘Here you go, I’ll be back soon to get those menu’s from you.’ She said.
‘No, stay.’ Mat said. ‘I need to talk to you about some things.’
‘Okay sir.’ She said sitting down, a chair materialising under her.
More of this Chapter coming soon.
