my scanning is a good example, but I doubt anyone would attack you just with a screen name.

Ok here's what I thought up for how to protect this info:
1) There will be a password, thought up by me to get to the page
2) Any mods, admins, and a list of trusted, active (picked by me) people will be allowed to give out the password
3) There will be restrictions on who gets the password. A certain about of posts (and topic of the post) will be required and about two weeks or more of being on the site. It will be suggested that people include any psi sites they also belong to be listed. This will be checked by the approved people.
4) @hotmail.com or other addresses will be spelled out like "(at) hotmail (dot) com" So if a spammer could get through the check point, he would have to change all of that.

I think that will stop most spammers and attackers.

Won't help, I could get around that in about five seconds. Not that I intend to spam you guys or anytihng. ^_^

I know you could, but it's there just to annoy spammers, if they could get that far (which I doubt)

Each to their own. But everyone here is considered extreme by society. Being the owner and admin of the place, I'm most likely and also easiest to track and hunt down, yet that doesn't stop me from doing what I do.

I wouldn't stop myself from doing anything just for fear, because that would mean I've lost freedom and freedom is only thing that I truly have. So I think is great that you're doing this.

first durial, alot of spammers use bots to gather email addresses, and that confuses bots too much to be real useful, would you rather go to a site and gather 500 email addresses in 20 seconds or 15 email addresses in a minute? Bots make one lazy, and they'll go somewhere else.

yep, that's the whole idea. No bot will get through all of this, not when they actually have to start posting.

Oh my gods, Karen. That's what you were obsessing over in terms of the directory? *Hits self in head* you coulda told me, I would have had a method similar to Apollo's (though probably not as good ^_^).

That, and you mistinterpreted my last post. Assuming that anyone did get that far, those emails would take about five seconds for anyone who knew how to use a word processor to convert back into valid email addresses. I'll PM you the method, if you want, so you can try and find some way around it, but adding that fourth step really doesn't add that much in terms of security. If they're patient enough to bypass all of the other security measures, they're not going to let something that can be undone in five seconds stop them. =P

Oh, and ljboy, you were supposed to PM the info to Karen. Not post your email and other personal information out on the board for everyone to see. I strongly suggest deleting your post.

What if we kind have a list of cridentials of all the users and the psi abilities they mastered or something like that. Maybe have them grade thereself on a scale of 1-5, so the rookie can see who to ask certain question from or im.

You can never truly master a certain aspect of psi, you're always learning, claiming to be a master leaves you with no goals, you end up slacking off on practice and your skill abilities drops, generally a bad scenario
