This seems to work for me, try it out for yourself. here's a little empathy exercise i did with a friend of mine. it doesn't hurt that she just so happens to be empathic. this might work with a non-empath as well. i welcome all questions, comments, and constructive criticisms.
i've always been interested in empathy. i used to want to be a psychiatrist or counselor, so having empathic abilities would aid me in my work.
i went to a friend of mine and asked her to help me train. first i gathered as much energy as i could and focused it all in my hands(we both did it since tactile touch can evoke an emotional response). i asked her to think about something that made her extremely angry and resentful, moreso than she's ever been before.**NOTE**THIS IS WHERE THE P.O.V. CHANGES focus all that negative emotional energy into your hands, and concentrate on sending it to the other person. repeat this exercise as many times as needed; until the receiver starts to "feel" something.
i use(d) negative emotions because they are the easiest to perceive and it would be very easy to pick up the oppisite. of course you don't have to use negative emotions. you can try this with any emotion.
