1. is FAITH, BELIEVE IN YOURSELF, tell yourself verbally that you will have sucess. This part is half the battle, trust me.
Ok, i personally believe that one has to be able to clear the mind. A simple game to improve on this ability is to first focus on clearing your mind, then reading over the word. without thinking or hearing or seeing anything in your mind. try to hold this "thoughtlessness" for about 15 seconds. Thats a good target. This drill helps prevent AOL (anatical overlay) (for those who don't know what that is, its when you just make up random stuff psionically speaking).
If you can do all of this, i believe you should be able to scan numbers and shapes etc with much more sucess.
A quick method is imaginging your mind as a black board, with you as a teacher in a classroom full of students.
A student raises his hand (the target). You pick on the student. THe student tells you the answer. you write it down on the board.
improvise as much as you like to comfort yourself.
this has been great and all but i'm sleepy, hahahahahhaha.
