Does anyone know a good way of explaining to a newbie how to get out of your body? I mean I can do it easily enough, but how do you explain it?

You could try to make it sound a simple as possible and just give basic steps. Just give basic guidelines and let them find things out their own way if it is possible. Hope this helps Pyrodragon

Do I hear the masses crying, "How does one astral project?" There is no real way of doing it, this happens and comes with time, and lots of practice. It also will come when it is meant to come. Astral projection can be achieved through meditation. If you don't do it right away do not get down or discouraged. It can take some up to 4-8 years before one is able to do so. Others it’s less or maybe more, so as I will say over and over again it just take time, practice and patience. I also find this is the easy way to explain it. Yet it does take time it took me 4 years before I first Aped. Yet what I have put below is easy enough to explain to someone new in my point of view.
Some of the best ways to astral project is to simply lie down on your bed (or sit) or what where is the best position you feel right in. Close your eyes and simply listen to your breathing at first. If music helps calm, relax you feel free to put some on. Now has you meditate think about lifting out of your body, or think of yourself sitting up (without really doing so) and walking out of your body. Theses are just some of the ways. For others one time it can just simply happen without them knowing it has until much later.
You know you have astral projected because it will feel like your body is higher then it really is, now at first you might not be able to see things around you but with time and practice you soon will start to. Please heed the warning posted and follow it. Astral projection is not a joke and can be dangerous if miss-used and played around with.

I have done it and the strange thing is.. if a wound is bad enough there it can come to your real body and show up. I have a few astral wounds which have turned to scars. So if your do AP be careful!

Not to highjack the topic, but... What would be a nice site for information about it?
