A few times when I was trying to take a nap I would zone out and then feel like I fell off a cliff and wake up flinging my arms trying to grab something. I heard someone say this was a sign of Astral projection. I have never done an AP before so I thought this might be an AP. What do you think?

Well, this does just happen to everyone every now and then.
Maybe it's AP, but I don't think so. I think it's just something that happens when you fall asleep but you're still concious of what's going on. Not sure about it. Whatever it is, I don't think you can it on command and that would still mean you just need to try to AP.
So wether it is or isn't doesn't really matter in the end...

I'd say it was very much possible, but really hard to say. Truth is we Astral Project every night whether or not we're conscious of it. According to Monroe, the falling feeling that we feel are partial or unsuccessful seperations. Sometimes your astral body spontaneously pulls away from the physical body and snaps back into the physical body with great force (like a rubber band) when trying re-aligning itself. This is what can cause a jerk to the physical body. It's happened to me numerous times. The force can be so great that it wakes you up and causes you to react physically. You may not have been conscious of you seperating, but you may have seperated unconsciously and became conscious the moment you snapped back into the physical body. This is very common among some people. There are other logical explanations for this as well. During SWS (Slow Wave Sleep) SP (Sleep Paralysis) should already have taken place. Therefore by the time we reach REM we're in a dream state. And on some occurances SP can ware off just before you wake up from the dream which can cause the reaction or jerk feeling of the physical body. I can name several other things it may have been but let's be positive and say it was a short Astral Projection. Use this as motivation and ambition, and hopefully on your next time you'll have more success.
Good luck =)

thanks. I do not think it was a dream because I have always remembered my dreams since I was very young. I have never slept without dreaming actually. When this happened however I was just relaxing and then I zoned out and boom ______ happened. Thanks again everyone.
