Mind Control is a form of attacking, but it can be used to help people and animals.

I think it's both an offensive and a defensive. It could be used as an offense, just to force someone to leave or hurt themselves or others. It could be used as a defensive, because it could be used to divert attacks form yourself or others. (So yeah... I put "It Depends")

Mind control is not widely accepted as a term in the psionic community. I think the term that is widely used is telepathic suggestion (sounds nicer eh?). I said yes for the same reasons as you guys stated earlier
EDIT: And I am Apollo. I WANT MORE POWER!!!! BOW TO THE GREEK GOD!!! lol jk

He was the Greek god of music, I mean common! Anyway, telepathic suggestion and mind control are different. Unless you are assuming control and domination are different.

He was the Greek god of music, I mean common! "When someone died suddenly, he was said to have been struck down by one of Apollo's arrows. Homer's epic of the Trojan War begins with the god causing a plague by raining arrows down upon the Greek camp." (http://www.mythweb.com/gods/Apollo.html). At least he has a bow and arrows

I think if anyone had it, it would be right to practice it. My first reason is to get better at it. It's a skill like any other, why not improve it?
Also, the closest thing you are likely to find to mind control is telepathic suggestion just as Apollo had stated earlier. ~Greek God My @ss... Lol~
Anyway, regardless, telepathic suggestion is pretty similar to mind control. I think it's also right to practice telepthic suggestion my reason is for getting better, thats what makes it right.
It's what you do with it that some people think about. For example. I can practice it to get better, but I can do it by making people do things for me, just as Lonewolf has already stated. It actually works for me. I've made people close the door, get the telephone, etc, etc. The thing is that you're not controling their minds at all. You're just puting thoughts into their head and.. in a way that they believe that they're generating the thoughts and concepts on their own. With that, they're most likely to follow along with what you're telling them. If you make it seem like it's comming from an outside source.. your targets are likely to think twice before doing what you're trying to tell them to do.
Anyway, yes it is right to practice it.

What if it is to protect someone? If someone is trying to kill you, and you were unarmed, what would you do? If you had nothing but your mind, what would you do? (I understand that is highly unlikely, at least for me.)

Exactly. People use guns and go hunting to improve their hunting skills. People use swords and spar to improve on their martial arts. Gangs use guns to fight and win against rivalries. Just like any other skill, mind control is fine to practice.
Its not the practicing it that we should be debating about, it's how we practice. How you practice will most definitely raise ethical issues..... and I for one, am in no mood to discuss ethics... ethics and I aren't friends. Life is a series of fortunate and unfortunate events. Life is a series of daily repetition. You repeat things to improve on them. Same goes for mind control.
