Well to put it in other words:
-Every month there's a thread in the News/Rules forum saying "January's Active Users Count" replacing January with that current month. A mass email notifies users of this. -Any user who doesn't post in that thread, and has not given a reason for their absence may be deleted after seven days at the Admin's discretion.
It's not that complicated...

Most other forums I frequent just set up a system where any account that hasn't logged on in a month is deleted. They send out a 1-week warning and a 1-day warning through mass-emails, then delete anyone who's been inactive since the first of the month and who doesn't have a post up saying that they'd be gone for awhile.

But that really, really spams up your inbox. 8 emails every month apart from the newsletter? I'd like just a notification on the month through mass email and then one week to reply.

well those who have never posted and have been a member for more than 3 months will receive an email from me, telling them they should post. If the email bounces, I delete their account since there is no other way to get in touch with them. I get about 20 or so emails back saying they will start posting. Then I get a few saying to delete their account. Some won't email me back, but delete their account or start posting. Most never do anything. I only delete accounts if you have been a member for a year and have never posted anything. If you really care about your member account, you would have done something by now. I do this about ever 4-6 months and you all rarely say anything.

I mean, it's great to have members, but we don't really need them. It's great to see new people, and we need to have active members. Not to sound harsh.

*thoughts of having 1000 members are crushed*
Fair enough...Maybe we should have a roll call or something once every 3 months or something? :S

Nah. We just have to celebrate it differently. "Welcome! Your the 1000th registered member of this site. You get cookies!" I mean.. They'll still be the 1000th registered.. if not active.

Well, stop noticing it and we might be able to get 1000. But I'm not saying that's good, I'm saying that I would rather have 300 active members then 1000 members that almost all arn't active.

Why create arguments and discussions about it? She already decided what's going to happen.

Heh. Now it's stuck at 999. Our only hope before was if a guest decided to register when it was 998 thinking he'd only be the 999th not 1000th but another guest thought the exact same thing and they both registered making 1000. I wonder how long it will stay this way.

Well seeing as Dash made that comment yesterday, and we got a new member, then maybe since you made the same comment we'll have 1000 tomorrow?
