Tell that to the League of Nations pre-WWII. And lovetanime, you're thinking of pacifists. Or maybe altruists. One or the other. Or both. ^_^ Violence can solve problems just as well as words. In fact, words tend to cause more problems than they solve. Nearly every fight is started with an argument.

And they started from an argument because people are so used to violence that they see compromising with words not an option. And yes violence could perhaps solve things that words could, but that makes my argument, words can solve things instead of violence and with out all the drama after wards. I myself have never been in a fist fight but many arguments, all finished successfully. If I can do it, why can't you?

Nearly every fight is started with an argument. probably altruists ... umm maybe both im kinda looking them up on wiki now ...hmm true about words... true that they tend to start fights... but what was the emotion behind these words to begin with?... what was the attitude of the other party? there is so much that goes into this discussion we also must study all those around us and find out what pleases them most in a person... or atleast what they can deal with in a person... this reminds me of a butterfly... as she flies near a spider web one false move could cost her life... now this is alot of work so one might just want to cast themselves as a being above that of others or below... in a way that all others will feel no need to fight you...to be continued |

I put this up before I had my spaz out session and tried to remove part of my life from existance, so I'll repost it =/
Scenario:
The world is running out of oil fast, a country run by a dictator hits on a well that could keep the world running on fossil fuels for another 5 years (it would take AT LEAST 2 years to transition everything over to water based engines and electricity, probably more). The dictator decides that the oil is his and it is his duty as a tool of god to burn it so that lesser nations can't have it. He begins burning the wells.
Without oil the world would come to a standstill, people would lose work and people would lose lives, economies would collapse. How do we solve this problem?
I'd like answers from people who claim that violence is totally un-necessary.

me personally... i would rather die than kill
and its not that bad i mean people used to live without oil... i mean things bad would happen like a total economic bust yeh but its not worth killing over

You mean Saddam? He did that a lot. Although, he used them more to kill people, or keep people away, than to stop other people from using them.

He tested chemical bombs on his own people, among many other things.
It was a hypothetical situation, nothing to do with Saddam. Lovetanime, people WOULD die without oil.

How did the primitive man survive without oil. What I am saying is people think they need allot of things witch they do not. Life would be harder but people would survive. Also, the reason why people get physical when arguing, is because they think violence is OK and they have barely any self control skills. If people knew how to negotiate with words rather than fists or bombs, wouldn't our world be a better place? If people could control and thought about consequences first.

Bah this is nothing. What do you mean people would die without oil? They should have thought about that before, if it was true. Plus i'm not expecting people to deplete the world's oil reserves. If they do, it won't matter if we start a war or not, the planet will kill us anyway.
Anyway, a decent way to avoid a war in that case is to join together all the countries and work together on a solution. I bet that with a joined effort, those 2 years could go down to 2 months.
