According to my belief, there is evidence to consider the use of psi and psychic abilities as a sin and also not as a sin. As those of you know, that are Christian, the Bible is a very contraditing book... I don't know why I still believe it though. I guess my reason for that is because it has given me a way of living that doesn't deconstruct or obstruct the functions of society, rather its given me a way of life that constructs and helps me to contribute to society (in a positive way) as we know it.
I will get the text in the Bible that discuss this matter of psi as a sin and/or not. I currently don't have my Bible with me. Give me a day or so and I'll make a new post that has the text in it.

I see psionics as a metaphorical tree. Most people just walk by it and don't pay any attention to it. Those who do can do what they want with it. Make a spear to kill their friends, enemies, or protection. They might also use to to control something they normaly can't control like empathy. Finally they could use it as a tool or build it up to use it for something greater. Kind of a beauty is in the eye of the beholder idea. Tools aren't dangerous, unless people make them to be so. Tools aren't evil, they aren't even alive. (Just thought of drugs in this context, it's not a tool it's a plant XD) crap now I'm confused

Psions to me is a way to use our true potential. People who arn't good in school could be awesome at psionics. I think it gives everyone something to be good at, because as long as you practice, you can be good at it. It's kinda like.... a dog. If you take care of it, it will stay strong. If you don't, it will die and go away. Not exactly like psionics, but it's like it.

I am a Christian and the people that say psionics is a sin are the people that do not know what it is. I believe God gave us these abilities and we should use them. The problem comes when you start trying to make psionics replace God. That is when it becomes a sin just like if you were replacing God with football or anything else.

Okay, sorry for getting back to you all so late. Like I promised, here are the scriptures quoted for what makes psionics a sin and not a sin.. Leviticus 19:26, Leviticus 20:27.
Also, throughout the New Testament there are accounts of Jesus Christ performing signs, miracles and wonders. Within that, Jesus himself says "Greater works than these shall ye do".
So there you have it. Psionics is a sin and is also not a sin.
I guess if you wanted, you could refer back to Zedd's post. That could be a good starting point for finding a middle ground if you're Christian.

where is "is a sin" in there? Jesus Christ says that we shall do more than he did, right? so it shouldn't be considered a sin if he encouraged us to. I'm not a christian, but i like to debate.

All Bible passages I expected. For one, those are mistranslations of the Hebrew. And bad ones at that. The one they substituted "diviner" in for, for example, means "poisoner" in Hebrew. Same thing with "spiritist:" it's actually "necromancer" in the context of calling forth souls of the dead for material gain. The other one, which I expected you to post, but you didn't, was "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live." The original Hebrew is "m'kashaph" or something similar, I can't spell Hebrew. Anyway, it roughly translates to "black sorceress" or "woman who lays a curse upon men."
Anyway, have you ever eaten meat on Friday? Ever had a piece of meat with blood still on it? If you're a farmer, do you go back over your field after a harvest and gather what you missed? Ever bred a mule? Ever worn clothes that have more than one type of fiber in them (cotton-polyester people, I'm looking at you!)? Ever shaved your sideburns off? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you've committed an unforgivable sin and must be put to death, according to the same Book you quoted. I'm not technically allowed in a Christian church because I wear glasses. If you have a club foot, are blind or deaf, are in any way crippled, etc., neither are you. Point: Don't use Leviticus as canon if you don't intend to follow EVERYTHING it says.

so really only black magic, necromancy, and personal gain are evil.

so really only black magic, necromancy, and personal gain are evil. Black magic doesn't exist. Just wanted to put that out there. Poisoners, and necromancers essentially, yes.

Darn it Darin you beat me to it. That'll be 60 bucks. ^_^ And you beat me to the "Black Magic doesn't exist" part. XD LjBoy, the Bible doesn't condemn anything metaphysical that doesn't have a high potential for harm. Don't try to curse someone into little bits and you'll probably be fine.

In my opinion Psionics is not a sin because as said before it is a natural ability that we all have why would god give us an ability we aren't supposed to use? And if you are so worried about it being a sin why are you here?
Unfortunately the Bible has been translated, rewritten and changed so many times we have no idea if half or any of the information in the bible is even correct.
